Advance to 2016, the San Francisco Giants going into the half way season break have not only the best record in baseball at 58-33 but the best winning (.700 ball) percentage of any San Francisco Giants team ever at All-Star Break– that includes the 2002 World Series teams with Barry Bonds and 1962 with Mays, McCovey and Marichal!
This for a no-name team with one big ‘comeback’ pitcher in Cueto, Bumgarner as Bumgarner and a lot of ‘no-name’ players playing over their heads. Even their one bonafide hitting star, Buster Posey , hasn’t had a great season, but that’s ok- just change the other names and the Giants keep winning – three World Series and six years in a row? BRANDON CRAWFORD GETS 7 HITS in game after only 14 Hits In Previous Month!
So, the Giants HAD to appear normal for awhile, going on a prolonged losing streak for almost a month after the All Star break; Now maybe they’re coming out of it – at least Crawford is – AND HOW:
8/8/16 After only 14 hits in almost a month -a .190 average- Brandon Crawford goes 7 for 7 against the Marlins top pitcher and relievers (one of only a handful of players to ever get seven hits in a single game, extra innings or not) . It’s as if he stopped by the Biogenesis lab on the way to the Miami stadium 🙂 .
8-9-16 Next day: Crawford goes 0-for-4 against no name pitcher Koehler (4.00 ERA)day after getting those 7 hits in one game against 6 diff. top pitchers ( after hitting only .190 in previous 20 games (The whole team only got three hits
